Um mithilfe von ETA eine Einreisegenehmigung für Kanada zu beantragen müssen Sie einige ETA Voraussetzungen erfüllen. Denn der kanadische Gesetzgeber hat das „ETA Privileg“ der unkomplizierteren, schnelleren Beantragung einer Einreisegenehmigung für Kanada nicht für alle Einreisenden vorgesehen. Manche Reisende müssen statt am ETA Verfahren teilzunehmen ein klassisches Visum beantragen. Wieder andere dürfen einfach so nach Kanada einreisen. Bevor die Einreise beantragt wird macht es deswegen Sinn zu Erfahren, welche Einreisegenehmigung für den persönlichen Fall die richtige ist.
Wer braucht kein ETA?
Welche Personen sind vom ETA Verfahren ausgeschlossen?

Allerdings ist Einreisegenehmigung nicht gleich Einreisegenehmigung. Folgende drei „Arten“ werden unterschieden:
- Einreisegenehmigung die durch das ETA Verfahren erhalten wurde
- Einreisegenehmigung die durch ein Kanada Visum erhalten wurde
- Einreisegenehmigung aufgrund von Sonderstatus (z.B.: Piloten einer Airline)
Die kanadische Behörde für Einreise und Immigration geht bei der Zuordnung der Reisenden zu den jeweiligen Genehmigungen nach dem Ausschlussverfahren vor.
Als erstes werden die Personen aussortiert, die einen Sonderstatus genießen. Hierzu wird zum Beginn des ETA Fragebogens gefragt ob folgendes auf den Reisenden / die Reisende zutrifft:

Welche Länder sind zugelassen?

Hier findet eine weitere „Aussortieren“ der Teilnehmer statt. Nur Personen, die bei der oben abgebildeten Frage eines der folgenden Lände wählen, können am ETA Verfahren teilnehmen. Alle anderen Teilnehmer werden direkt zur Antragstellung für ein Kanada Visum weitergeleitet. Das Herkunftsland ist also eine entscheidende ETA Voraussetzung.
